Was launched in 1985 from
a refugee camp in Safawa, Sudan. Since then more than £220m has been
raised, primarily through Red Nose Days, for some of the poorest and most
vulnerable people across the UK and Africa. Funds are used to support long-term
development projects to enable people to help themselves. It also works
to tackle the root causes of poverty by raising awareness of what it believes
are key causes - unfair international trade laws and Third World debt.
