First Light is an innovative
project backed by Lottery funding from the UK Film Council. It is dedicated
to fostering film culture for young people from all social backgrounds.
They fund and inspire the making of short films by young people, reflecting
the diversity of their lives. So far, they have enabled almost 7,000 young
people between the ages of five and 18 to write, act, shoot and produce
over 450 films. Working with filmmakers and organisations, First Light films
cover many topics and genres, and make use of accessible digital film technology.
