From Boyhood to Manhood (FBMF)
was set up in 1996 in response to parental concerns to the high number of
young black boys being excluded from school in Southwark, South London.
Excluded pupils are most risk of being drawn into criminal or anti-social
behaviour and in so doing deny themselves, their families and communities
of their potential contribution as productive members of society. FBMF offers
a programme that enables them to access education, while developing their
skills and the ability to confront life as an individual and deal with their
issues. The programme also provides them with positive role models and consistent
disciplinary and behavioural patterns they may not have at home.
