UK-based charity that raises
money for research and treatment into leukaemia. In 1998, Leuka launched
an Appeal to fund the building of a new leukaemia treatment and research
centre at London’s Hammersmith Hospital. The Leuka building will replace
outdated and cramped facilities, and ensure that the unit’s record
of clinical excellence and innovation continues through the 21st century.
Building work on the new three-storey centre was completed in July 2002,
and the unit is now up and running. The charity is currently raising funds
to equip the research laboratories on the second floor. They have so far
raised over £10million.
