The Northwest is Groundwork’s birthplace. The first pioneering Groundwork Trust was established on Merseyside in 1981 as an experiment in urban fringe regeneration. There are now thirteen in the Northwest, developing and delivering regeneration programmes in the region’s most deprived areas.
