 People First (Self Advocacy) - We are recruiting 3 support workers. People First is an organisation run by and for people with learning difficulties to raise awareness of and campaign for the rights of people with learning difficulties and to support self advocacy groups across the country.
We are just starting a major 3 year project called Disability LIB, in partnership with 6 other Disabled Peoples Organisations, to capacity build 200 Disabled Peoples Organisations across the country. The support workers must have good communication and planning skills, be able to make complicated information accessible and be committed to the principles of the Social Model of Disability.
They need to be able to support the process of decision making, have IT skills and understand about capacity building disabled people’s organisations. The successful candidates will have had experience in a similar field.
These jobs are 3-year fixed term contracts.
Support Worker to Project Manager
28 hrs per week.
Salary scale NJC Point 30 S01:
£ 27,723 inc of London Weighting pro rata
To provide support for the Project Manager to ensure that she can fulfil her role of managing the project and project workers; organising training and conferences; ensuring targets are met and information collected to support monitoring and evaluation and other duties.
Support Worker to Inclusion Coordinator
21 hrs per week
Salary scale NJC Point 29
£ 26,927 inc of London Weighting pro rata
To provide support for the Inclusion Coordinator to ensure that he can fulfil his role in developing systems for carrying out audits on Disabled Peoples Organisations to see how well they include people with learning difficulties in their work; Support them to develop and deliver training; write progress reports; make sure targets are met and other duties within their role.
Support Worker to Diversity Worker
21 hrs per week
Salary scale NJC point 29
£26,928 inc of London Weighting pro rata
To provide support for the Diversity Worker to ensure that they can fulfil their role of supporting local Self Advocacy groups to be more inclusive of different groups of people with learning difficulties. Support them to deliver training; write progress reports; make sure targets are met and other duties within their role.
These posts are based in London but will involve travel to other parts of the country.
