Hi. I'm Ruth, interviewed in Ruth, screened in Disability Week, 19 & 20 Sept 2008.
If you saw the film, great, you'll know where I'm coming from. If you didn't, please don't quit. In other words, whether you saw the film or not, please feel free to ask me anything about Parkinson's Disease and/or Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)
SOME BACKGROUND
The film was shot in 2005, one year after I'd had an amazing BRAIN OPERATION, called Deep Brain Stimulation to reduce the horrid effects and symptoms of the Parkinson's Disease I'd had for 12 years. Here I am, 3 years after the film, and, this is the thing, 15, yes 15, fifteen, years after diagnosis, typing this blog.
If you or anyone you know has Parkinson's Disease, you'll understand what I'm saying.
I'm only too happy to share with you so please, if the film had any impact for you or raised any question that you want to know about, or just to say hi, please feel free to drop us a line via this blog.
Look forward to hearing from you
Ruth
PS: I can't begin to tell you how much this procedure has, quite literally, saved my life. Unfortunately, not everyone has been as blest as I have because of funding problems. I'm proud to give my name to an appeal for funding for the very procedure that has made it possible to have a life

Please visit the website. Yeah, that's me, 3 years ago. Today, I'm fatter but with long hair dyed red "Because I'm worth it!"
