Living in conflict - what most people don't know.. Create new blog

woman and child in refugee camp
c. Leigh Daynes, British Red X
Having worked for one of the big international humanitarian organisations, I know how frustrating it can be for them to have the 'forgotten emergencies' hardly ever on the media - and therefore ordinary people's - agenda.

So the British Red Cross have come up with a new campaign - Civilians and Conflict - which runs this month and highlights what living in conflict is like.

They've commissioned a survey in the UK which shows that most people are unaware of the major conflict zones around the world.  And understandably think that Iraq and Afghanistan have the highest civilian death toll of any conflict in the past ten years.

You can find out more from their website.

And more on the new report - Civilians and Conflict - is here
