1. Programme Rights Management:
Reporting to the Head of Programme Acquisitions, you will be clearing rights such as music, stills and archive with the rights holders, so that the programmes are fit for broadcast.
Role description
• Helping to decide whether the programmes are suitable for broadcast on the Community Channel.
• Negotiating programme rights (following advice from the head of department)
• Liaising with broadcasters, production companies and charity organisations to source tapes and paperwork on acquisitions.
Duration:
3 Months. Basic expenses paid.
2. Programme Repackaging:
Reporting to the Head of Programme Acquisitions, you will provide detailed paper edits for acquired programmes. This role may also include additional shooting so programmes have clear narrative structure.
Role description:
• Helping to decide whether the programmes are suitable for broadcast on the Community Channel.
• Drawing up programme contracts
• Negotiating programme rights (following advice from the head of department)
• Liaising with broadcasters, production companies and charity organisations to source tapes and paperwork on acquisitions.
• Shooting extra footage for programmes where necessary.
Duration:
3 Months. Basic expenses paid.
3. Editing and Graphics:
For this role you will need previous experience of editing (see person specification below).
Reporting to the Head of Programme Acquisitions, you will ensure that acquired programmes are ingested, edited and delivered. You will also ensure that tapes and equipment are looked after, and that delivery data is entered into the channel’s database system. You may also be asked to dub material and lay off to DV and/or DVD.
Role description:
• Undertake basic creative editing.
• Convert acquired material in preparation for broadcast, repairing technical quality and making editorial changes under the supervision of the Head of Acquisitions.
• Carry out dubs and duplication of material using the channel’s central technical area.
• Operate the Channel’s edit suite booking diary, liaising with the Senior VT Editor and others.
• Maintain the channel’s master tape libraries, including booking tapes in and out of the building,
• Keep database movement log up to date, and keep accurate log of all stock used.
Person Specification:
• Strong organisational skills, good working knowledge of current broadcasting conventions.
• At least 1 year’s experience of using Final Cut Pro 4.5 edit systems at DV resolution.
• Knowledge of DVD Studio or iDVD would be an advantage.
