Given unique access to the work of the Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) this four part series follows teams to conflict zones and looks at the obstacles they face in providing aid to vulnerable communities.

Episode 1 – Haiti
In part one to this unique insight into the working lives of the MSF we travel to Haiti to see first hand the devastating effects of gang violence and gun crime on the streets of Haiti. Without shying away from the problem, Doctors on the Frontline reports on the way the Haitian police and U.N. troops often ignore protocol and are responsible for many of the injuries. When asked to comment on the allegations of brutality the U.N. refused to comment. Watch this extraordinary episode and see first hand the effects of those that must live and die with the consequences of these actions.

Episode 2 – Sudan

Sudan child
A deprived Sudan child
Peace between Khartoum and the SPLA (Sudan’s People Liberation Army) in southern Sudan has brought few benefits so far. In this episode we are taught how the threat of famine stalks the land and with its attempts to feed the people the MSF is struggling to meet the needs of the 300,000 people with just one small hospital. Challenging the ideals of the authorities in Sudan, Doctors on the Frontline once again embarks on discovering the truth to the humanitarianism crisis in these harsh lands.

Honduras street child
Children living off the streets
Episode 3 – Honduras

The work of the MSF isn’t always about aid work as we find out when Doctors on the Frontline travels to the murder capital of Central America, Tegucigigalpa in Honduras. Here we look at the lives of street children and how an MSF centre set up for counselling purposes has helped pry children off the streets and away from a life of prostitution, drugs and violence.

Episode 4 – Somalia

Somalian clan member
Growing threat to the MSF
Reporting form the small town of Dinsoor in Somalia, this film follows the brave work of the MSF in what is considered by many a dangerous and ‘failed state’. Here MSF doctors are the only working healthcare centre able to help support the 100,000 people living in the area. Working from a small out post they must consult with locals on clan protocols in order to keep up their practice and remain on their land.
