GN TV Challenge - Schools |
Three schools from different parts of the country took part in the Giving Nation TV Challenge.
Highfields School
 Highfields present their idea Highfields is in the market town of Matlock, Derbyshire. There are 1600 students and it is a mixed comprehensive school with an age range from 11-18 years and is the only secondary school in Matlock.
The school operates on a split site, with 500 of the youngest pupils being taught at a site 1.8 miles away, with teachers moving between the two sites. In addition, many of the students come from surrounding villages and are bussed in to Matlock. Others come from the town's surrounding estates.
In September 2005, the school became a Performing Arts Specialist College.
Phoenix High School
 Phoenix publicity campaign Phoenix High School is a vibrant multicultural secondary school in Shepherd Bush, in London's Hammersmith and Fulham borough. It celebrates its wide diversity of cultures and races.
It's on a 10-acre site in West London and has an extensive range of facilities which include a new technology block, fitness centre and swimming pool. Students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities which include music, drama, dance, sports, chess and gardening.
In 2005 it gained Specialist Science College status.
Wilmington Enterprise College
 Wilmington students in action The college campus near Dartford, Kent has been a site of learning since the early 1960s. It became Wilmington Enterprise College in 2006 on achieving Business and Enterprise Specialist College status.
It is a mixed secondary school which prides itself on changing with the times. It has 300 computers for student use, and three innovative student centres on the campus - Learning Resources, Business and Vocational, and Pupil Achievement and Welfare.
