A Journey to Darfur

when is this on?

This isn't scheduled anytime soon.

Hollywood star George Clooney has taken on a new and vital role in the personal documentary, A Journey to Darfur.

It records the experiences of some of the many refugees who've fled the genocide in Sudan's western province.

Clooney travelled to the Sudanese border region with his father, veteran reporter Nick Clooney, in 2006, to bear witness to the horrors suffered by hundreds of thousands of Sudanese who have fled from militias terrorising the villages of Darfur.

Along with others, his journey has brought worldwide attention to the displacement, starvation, rape, and mass slaughter occurring in Darfur.

On his return Clooney lobbied the Senate in Washington, the UN in New York to put pressure on the Sudanese government to stop the violence in Darfur.

With fellow actors, he has set up Not On Our Watch (NOOW), an organisation that focuses global attention and resources on stopping mass atrocities, and provides support for humanitarian assistance.
