Up For ArtsCommunity Channel is working with Voluntary Arts England on an innovative new campaign to encourage more people to get involved in voluntary arts and crafts.

Do you ever wish you could be more creative? Paint your own pictures, write your own poetry and songs, carve sculptures out of wood or clay, learn to dance Bollywood style or play a traditional musical instrument?

If so, take part in UP FOR ARTS - a six week fest of arts and crafts of all sorts in the North East, North West, Yorkshire and Humber and London.

UP FOR ARTS is all about everyone and anyone taking part in anything to do with voluntary arts and crafts. Whatever your background, qualifications or physical abilities, or experience, find out what's on offer.  Challenge yourself and have some fun.

From painting to pottery, drama to dancing, there will be shows and activities at unusual or unexpected venues across the north of England and London. You can get involved on your own, with family or friends or as part of a group.

The Launch - our festival starts at the Metro Centre, Gateshead on Sunday 22 July.

The Film - watch the UP FOR ARTS film on the Channel and online from Friday 20 July.

The Blog - share news and views about voluntary arts and crafts.

The Competition - take part in the photo competition starting on Friday 20 July.

UP FOR ARTS is a great way to try something new and have some fun. Being a student at Backworth drama centre awoke something in me and that was knowledge through creative expression and as a result I realised what I wanted to do with my life.

Drama and the arts allows us to realise our possibilities and exceed our limitations. Have a go and visit an event near you and be amazed at what it could do for you”.

"I would like to congratulate everyone who has received grants for arts and crafts activities as part of the UP FOR ARTS campaign.

The UP FOR ARTS campaign will increase awareness of arts and crafts as a unique way to connect, engage and energise people within local communities.

The Government recognises the importance of volunteering and community participation in creating more connected communities and provides funding for UP FOR ARTS to enable and engage as many people as possible in voluntary activities.

I wish you all the best of luck with your volunteering arts and crafts activities now and in the future."
