New Consumer TV - September

when is this on?

This isn't scheduled anytime soon.

Each month New Consumer TV challenges us to think before we buy!

So if you're a consumer with a conscience - or would like to be - this programme guides you through a wealth of new ideas about shopping and living.  You can watch online too.

This third monthly programme goes in for a bit of testing and tasting.

Presenter Adam Vaughan road tests two electric cars in London - the G-Wiz and the MEGA City.  And Eleni Andreadis and two coffee experts taste coffee to find out which are the best Fairtrade and organic coffees on our supermarket shelves.

Electric Cars
It's an admittedly smug Adam Vaughan who drives freely into London's congestion zone and parks freely and checks out both the G-Wiz and the MEGA City cars for their performance.

They have different speeds, prices and interior space, but both are very green, carbon neutral to run and can save you money - no road tax, easy parking, no congestion charge and low insurance.

The most intriguing question is about recharging them and Adam shows how it's done by visiting a free charging station and plugging in for the next three hours, before handing the plug to the next electric car customer.

He concludes the G-Wiz and the MEGA City are two different driving experiences with the G-Wiz (65mph) having the edge on performance.

Which Coffee?

Coffee tasting
Eleni learning the art of coffee tasting
Our shops are now full of Fairtrade and organic coffee, so it's no longer a question of do you buy Fairtrade coffee, but which one should you buy?

James Hoffmann and Thierry Akroman provide the expert sipping and slurping as they work their way through six coffees to find the one with the most pleasing acidity and flavour.

Coffee is the second most traded commodity in the world and has been subject to severe market fluctuations.

The Fairtrade system which sets up partnerships with coffee producers in developing countries goes from strength to strength under the auspices of the Fairtrade Foundation and gives producers the stable market conditions they need to build their business.
