Social enterprise is all about trading for a social purpose. It’s a much fairer way of doing business and it’s on the increase.

Profits for the People
is a new documentary which explores the growth of social enterprise.

The sector contributes £8.4 billion to the British economy and employs 800,000 people – and in virtually every one of Britain’s 55,000 social enterprises there’s a powerful story about the way people and communities have been transformed.

This year’s Enterprising Solutions Awards (the 'Oscars’ of British social entrepreneurship) were held at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

The Goodwin Development Trust, Divine Chocolate Ltd, Women Like Us, the McSence Group and Haven Products were the five inspirational winners.

Divine Chocolate won the Best Social Enterprise Award for 2007.

Profits for the People profiles each of these businesses and explores their motivation, business models and plans for the future.
