Green Shorts

Green Shorts are five short films made by five different schools in the Hounslow area during the summer of 2007. The aim of each film was to inform young people of the current state of the world’s environment and to encourage them to take personal action in order to make a difference.

The Films

Meltdown: The Factz
Hounslow Manor school focused on the issues of the melting of the polar ice-caps and people’s ignorance surrounding global warming terminology. They asked people on the streets about their understanding of global warming jargon and illustrated the damage that is being done.

Dehydration
Brentford School for Girls set their short film in a future where society is in chaos, water has become the new currency and violent street crime is out of control. The closing statement is this: ‘would you kill for water? This could be our future.’

The adventures of Super-boy
Heston Community School had a humorous take on the whole project. Super-boy is trying to save the planet from pollution and littering but he can’t do it on his own, he needs everyone to help.

The Environmentalist
Lampton school did a spoof of The Apprentice. This time people were competing to be the ultimate environmentalist.

The Bully Birds
Isleworth and Syon School examined the issue of foreign bird species endangering native species such as the blue-tit and the robin.

The schools were mentored by Latimer Films.
