Autism is...
Autism is...Keith Duffy, ex-Boyzone band member, can currently be seen playing the part of Ciaran McCarthy in Coronation Street. He presents this short documentary about autism and how the condition is misunderstood by many people as it is sometimes diagnosed incorrectly or too late.

Autism is very much a personal issue with Keith as his young daughter, Mia, was diagnosed with the condition a few years ago. He regularly holds fundraising events for autism charities. We also meet Michele, who's 16 year old daugher Gigi has autism.

The programme will also show interviews with the parents of autistic children and people with the condition. One interviewee is Pat Blackburn who has autism and regularly gives lectures around the country about the condition and how it affects everyday life.

The documentary was specially made for the National Autistic Society’s fundraiser, the Spectrum Ball, which took place earlier this year to raise money and awareness of the condition. The programme hopes that people will gain a further understanding and support for those with autism and their friends and families.
