Catch up with Russell Brand when he spent an evening with young film makers recently.

The event celebrated the winners of a young filmmakers competition organised by Mediabox and FourDocs, Channel 4's online documentary channel.

The Winners

Nine finalists were chosen from hundreds of entries and each was given £500 to make a film.

The results were thought provoking, hard hitting and controversial. The winning short film - Georgina Goes Out - by Georgina Studd and two runners up films - Knife Crime and A Step Forward - will be broadcast on Channel 4 on 6 May.

New Competition for 2008

Mediabox and FourDocs are also launching this year's competition. It's for 13-19 year olds who want to win £500 to make a short (5 min.) film. Find out more.

Mediabox is a fund to give disadvantaged 13-19 year olds the chance to make creative media projects about the issues they're passionate about.

The fund from the Department of Children, Schools and Families is run by a consortium consisting of First Light Movies, Media Trust, Skillset and the UK Film Council.
