Council worker awards logoA record 41 high flying workers from local councils across the UK have been shortlisted for this year's Council Worker of the Year awards.

And now, it's up to the public to vote for the winners in the seven categories.

The categories are Innovation, Lifetime Service, Care and Commitment, Leadership, Team of the Year, Bravery and Flood Response.

A wide variety of frontline workers who have gone that extra mile - from caretakers and library assistants to IT specialists and retained fire crews.


How to Vote

Take part in the public vote on the Local Government Channel website.

Or vote by SMS to 80039 quoting LGATV + the category number shown in the Finalists Details + first name of the finalist, or in the case of teams, their council e.g. LGATV 2 John or LGATV 6 Liverpool. 

The winners will be announced on 3rd July 2008 at the Awards Gala Dinner, which marks the end of the LGA Annual Conference in Bournemouth. 

They will receive an engraved trophy and a cheque for £250 handed over by BBC presenter, Jeremy Vine.
