Tony Wilson was a leading light on the Manchester music scene.
The founder of Factory Records and the Hacienda nightclub, he was the man behind some of the city’s most successful bands of the1980s including Joy Division, New Order, James and the Happy Mondays.
Marking the first anniversary of his death, this evening of programming on Sunday 10th August 2008 looks back at his life and reveals a passion for the city of Manchester that stretches beyond the realms of music to the long term future and regeneration of his home town.

Tony Wilson Tribute @ 9.30 pm
A half hour programme which looks at the life of Tony Wilson, with contributions from Richard & Judy, Sir Alex Ferguson and Shaun Ryder.
Keeping it Real @ 10.00 pm
A unique figure in the story of modern Manchester, Wilson talks candidly about his experiences, the city he loves and his motivation for signing his new band, RAW-T.
The documentary looks at the lives of RAW-T and follows them in the making of their debut album, their first experience of playing in front of thousands, and supporting the Happy Mondays.
Workshop of the World, Industrial Revolution @ 11.00 pm
This half hour documentary follows Tony as he explores the North and its role in the industrial revolution.
We're also running a Tony Wilson Competition from 10 - 25 August with several copies of Factory Records: The Complete Graphic Album as prizes. So watch this space!
