Remembering Jane
Jane Tomlinson, CBE, was an inspirational fundraiser, providing genuine hope to a great number of people.
On Wednesday 3rd September Community Channel marks the first anniversary of her death with a series of programmes looking at her achievements.
The programmes are repeated on Saturday 6th Sep and Sunday 7th Sep.
In August 2000, Jane was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer and was told she had only months to live. Jane spent the next seven years fighting through the disease and took on a series of seemingly impossible athletic challenges, raising more than £1.8 million for charity.
Jane demonstrated that people with a terminal prognosis can still lead an active and fruitful life, receiving numerous awards for her efforts including: a CBE from the Queen, A Pride of Britain Award and two recognitions at the Sportswoman of the Year Awards.
Our programmes look back at her life, celebrate her bravery and determination and recognise the astounding legacy she left behind.
Jane's husband Mike Tomlinson and their three children continue the great work started by Jane through Jane's Appeal, a charity raising funds for children and cancer.
