Uncommon Heroes - Karen Tse
We have a big line up of new programmes on the Channel in November. 

In the Darfur Debate we look at the difficult issues in the world's worst humanitarian disaster. And we have three major series starting this month.

Rooted takes British children back to their foreign roots. We meet some remarkable social entrepreneurs in Uncommon Heroes. And Women on the Frontline, tells the personal stories of courageous women who've survived abuse and want their voices heard.

3 - 9 November

Woolf Within -
Thurs 6 Nov @ 9.00 pm
Peter Woolf burgled a house, fought with his victim and ended up in prison yet again. This time though it was different. Peter met his victim, Will, in a restorative justice session that changed both their lives for ever.

The Darfur Debate - Fri 7 Nov @ 9.30 pm
Filmed by Community Channel and chaired by Radio 4 presenter Roger Bolton, this debate looks at the difficult issues of the Darfur crisis and talks to charities about the work they do to help the civilian population.  Watch the trailer.

This series follows British children as they travel to their family’s country of origin, to experience at first-hand the differences in culture, society, religion and daily life and look at the contrasts – positive and negative – with their life in the UK.  more ...

 - Ep 1: North India - Mon 10 Nov @ 7.00 pm
Twelve year old Benice Aulak comes from Gravesend in Kent. But her grandparents came from the Punjab, in Northern India. Benice travels to the Punjab to meet family members for the first time, and visits the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

- Ep 2: Brazil - Tues 11 Nov @ 7.00 pm
Twelve year old Kondwani Moraes is half-Brazilian (father's side), half Angolan (mother's side) and lives in London. He goes to Brazil to celebrate Christmas with his grandfather.

- Ep 3: Armenia - Wed 12 Nov @ 7.00 pm
Zabel Aslanyan is thirteen and lives in North London. Her father is Armenian, and Zabel travels with him to Armenia for the first time.

- Ep 4: Cambodia - Thurs 13 Nov @ 7.00 pm 
Twelve-year Remi Chea lives in south-east London. He visits Cambodia, the country his father comes from and meets some of his relatives for the first time.

- Ep 5: Sierra Leone - Fri 14 Nov @ 7.00 pm
Horacia Nicol Dundas is 13 and lives in South London. She visits Sierra Leone, the country her parents came from.


Uncommon Heroes, Common Good Ep 1 - Fri 14 Nov @ 7.30 pm
The first of a 3-part series on remarkable social entrepreneurs. We meet Karen Tse - Human Rights in Asia, Amitabha Sandangi - Tackling Poverty in India, Dorothy Stoneman - Alternative Futures for Youth, and Blaise Judja-Sato - Delivering Health to the Poor.  Watch the trailer.


17 - 23 November (National Enterprise Week)

Blind Ambition - Thurs 20 Nov @ 9.00 pm
A film from Northern Film and Media about a blind sports radio presenter on a community radio station NE1 FM.

Pink Crusaders: A World of Sarees -
Thurs 27 Nov @ 7.00 pm
Stories of real life people in India who are challenging poverty, illiteracy and ignorance in rural areas where women are the victims of sexual violence.

Final part of our series on social entrepreneurs following Victoria Hale - Eradicating Black Fever, Ann Cotton - Educating Girls in Africa, Martin Burt - Starts Microcredit in Paraguay, and Rupert Howes - Ensuring Sustainable Fisheries.

Women on the Frontline Ep 1 - Austria - Sat 29 Nov @ 7.30 pm
Showing the Red Card is the first in a series and looks at domestic violence against women in Austria and a new Red Card system that allows police to eject men from their homes.
