This week we focus on the Football Foundation's flagship national project 'Kickz'.

Your Sport is at Wembley Stadium for their first ever National Awards ceremony hosted by the BBC's Ray Stubbs.

Ex-England player Les Ferdinand is another big name to feature in the show.  We get reaction for the award winners and see the project in action in Manchester and London.

These are the first Kickz Awards and are designed to recognise the achievements of those involved in the project.  They took place on 30 October 2008.

Background

Kickz uses the power of football and the appeal of professional clubs to target some of the most disadvantaged areas of the country.

The programme offers 12-18 year olds the chance to take part in positive activity three nights a week, 48 weeks of the year.  Through more than 100 projects at 39 professional clubs, Kickz reaches more than 15,000 young people each year.

It is funded jointly by the Football Foundation, the Metropolitan Police and the British Government.
