In the second episode of Uncommon Heroes on Community Channel, we meet Taddy Blecher working in South Africa, Mindy Lubber in USA, and Vera Cordeiro whose project is in Brazil.
 

Taddy Blecher – College Degrees for Africa’s Youth

In 1999 Taddy Blecher and his colleagues opened CIDA City Campus to provide disadvantaged youths in South Africa a chance to earn a four-year business administration degree. CIDA has already produced 1,800 graduates with potential lifetime earnings of $635,000 to $1.5 million, who go onto teach and sponsor other students.

Mindy Lubber – Making Business Green

The main goals of Ceres Inc. founded and run by its committed president Mindy Lubber are advancing corporate responsibility and promoting the principles of environmental sustainability. His mission is to persuade companies around the world to change their practices.  As a result, more than two dozen business concerns took action on climate change following the Ceres' 2003 summit, and there are plans for more to follow suit.


Vera Cordeiro – Health Care Networks in Brazil

Renascer Child Health Association was started in 1991, after its founder, Vera Cordeiro’s experience of working in a public hospital in Rio de Janeiro. Children who’d been successfully treated there and released from hospital would die of the same disease after becoming reinfected at home. She started the Association because she realised that these children would only survive if she went out into the community and treated whole families.
