Helping others can help you Week |
|
This campaign week marks International Volunteer Day on 5 December and is a weeklong celebration from 1-7 December of the achievements and impact that people who volunteer can have.
WATCH FILMS:
Community Channel is broadcasting a special week of inspiring films - see the programme highlights - on the themes of health, arts, sport, environment and animals.
Two feature films are the centrepiece of the schedule:
- Lorenzo's Oil on Mon 1st Dec @ 9 pm, and
- Gorillas in the Mist on Wed 3rd Dec. @ 9pm
If you are inspired by these films and the stories they tell, there's an easy way to find out how to volunteer. Volunteer Centres and a host of organisations can help you find a volunteering opportunity which is right for you.
CONFERENCE:
Community Channel presents “Helping others can help you” - a one day conference to celebrate volunteering and United Nations International Volunteer Day, and to share best practice.
Date: Friday 5 December 2008, 10 am – 4pm
