Jasoos Vijay

Jasoos Vijay was a hugely popular Indian series based around the lead character, an HIV positive detective.

In each of 52 weekly episodes Jasoos Vijay solved crimes but, more importantly, spread information on HIV prevention.

During an interactive element of each show, the well-known actor Om Puri, answered questions from viewers about AIDS, helping to overcome stigma and common misconceptions.

In this episode, Vijay not only tries to get to solve his latest complicated murder case, hunting down those responsible for the crime.  But he also faces up to a personal dilemma.

He finally decides to confess to Gauri, the woman he is deeply in love with that he himself is HIV positive. Gauri blames Vijay for hiding the truth from her and is confused about her feelings. Nor can Vijay's own brother come to terms with the news.

Vijay finds himself in a difficult position, struggling to convince those he loves that they should change their view about people living with HIV.
