What is the BSL Zone?

Community Channel broadcasts new programmes from Monday 27 July 2009 with the start of the second series of 'Wicked' a magazine show for the Deaf community.

The weekly signed TV series is the centrepiece of the Channel's BSL Zone, a collaboration with the British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust (BSLBT), which commissioned the series.

The programmes can be seen on Sky 539, Virgin TV 233 and on Freeview 87 (5-8am) at the following times:

Tuesday @ 2pm / Thursday @ 7.30pm / Saturday @ 7.30am

Wicked is produced by Remark!

The BSL Zone is part of a new initiative by BSLBT and the Deaf Community to increase the amount of sign-presented programming on television and to offer more choice for BSL viewing, as well as opportunities for Deaf people to work both on and behind the camera.

Favourite soaps will still appear with in-vision signing on the main terrestrial channels - BBC, ITV and Ch-4.
