Moira Stuart In Search Of Wilberforce

when is this on?

This isn't scheduled anytime soon.

In Search of Wilberforce follows renowned broadcaster Moira Stuart as she takes an epic journey of discovery in a quest to uncover the truth about the man who was the nation's icon of principled protest.

In this personal journey across three continents, Moira reveals how William Wilberforce has overshadowed the great work done by many other British people as well as the enslaved Africans themselves.

He is remembered as the man who freed the slaves but have we created a mythological champion?

Moira takes a fresh look at the apparent contradictions in the story of Wilberforce and offers a new perspective on the abolition of the slave trade, long overdue.

Most importantly whilst in Jamaica and with the help of renowned historian, Verene Shepherd, we are reminded of the heroic deeds of African freedom fighters such as Samuel Sharpe whose strategic uprising was one of the many revolutions that forced the British to pass legislation 'abolishing' slavery.
