What are the prospects for a team of young Ugandan footballers at the Friendship Cup in Peru?

The team are a group of boys from all over Uganda who've come together under the Kids League Uganda project.

They've never travelled abroad before.  But what sets them apart is their enthusiasm, determination, and desire to play.

Many of them missed out on ordinary childhood experiences but with the help of the Kids League Uganda they're now gaining an opportunity to turn their lives around.

In this film a squad is selected to take part in the Friendship Cup - a youth football tournament - in Peru. It's the first time a team from Africa has taken part and the programme follows their progress.

After the tournament, the team visit a youth project in Lima and on their way home visit F.C. Barcelona, Unicef ambassadors and 2009 European Champions.

Kids League Uganda is a football and education project which supports 25,000 boys and girls in 10 districts in Uganda.

It was set up in 2003 by Trevor Dudley with support from Unicef, USAID and commercial sponsors.  It grew as a result of a similar project in Kampala called Kampala Kids League which started in 1998.
