Samye Ling Fulfilling the Visions

This film - Samye Ling Fulfilling the Visions - provides an insight into the spiritual, humanitarian and therapeutic work of Kagyu Samye Ling, Europe’s oldest Tibetan Buddhist monastery, set in the heart of the Scottish Borders.

Over the past 40 years the Kagyu Samye Ling Tibetan Centre has become a sanctuary for Tibetan Buddhist spiritual and artistic traditions.

Personal accounts from Tibetans and westerners, give an insight into the origins of the magnificent temple - the focus of  Buddhist teachings, meditation and mindfulness practice.

Community members express what it means to live at Samye Ling or lead a monastic life.

The founder, Dr Akong Tulku Rinpoche’s original vision for Samye Ling in 1967 was to bring the seed of Tibetan Buddhism to the west and now its reputation has grown as a centre of humanitarian, health and inter-faith projects around the world.
