The Background

A devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake has hit Haiti. Although there are no accurate figures, it is clear that millions of people are affected and are at risk in the aftermath of this natural disaster.

Many DEC member agencies are already helping on the ground, but very substantial humanitarian assistance is required to ensure survivors get food, clean water, emergency shelter, medical care and other support.

Follow the progress of the response through international humanitarian media organisations Alertnet, Reliefweb, or IRIN
