Outdoor Kindergarten

What would you do if your 5-year-old child came home from nursery saying they had made a fire, climbed a mountain for three hours in the rain, and used real hammers and knives to make toy boats on the beach?

Welcome to the world of the Tusseladden Outdoor Kindergarten in Norway, where children are taught not to avoid risk, but to manage it, and where there is no such thing as "bad" weather, there are only "bad" clothes - even deep inside the Arctic Circle.

Supporters believe outdoor education toughens children up and also makes them more creative, flexible and independent - this film shows what it means for teachers, parents and 5-year-olds like Eir and Hans.
