Celebrate Success Awards 2010

Family Fortunes host Vernon Kay and his TV presenter wife Tess Daly host The Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success Awards ceremony in this star-studded TV show.

The awards honour disadvantaged young people who have changed their lives with the support of The Trust and recognise those who have played an exceptional role in supporting the Trust's work.

Prince Charles is joined by a host of stars at the awards ceremony at London’s Leicester Square Odeon, including Sir Michael Caine, Bond-girl Gemma Arterton and comedian Michael McIntyre, who all acknowledged young people who have overcome issues from drug addiction to homelessness to achieve success.

Award winners included reformed addict Karen McLaughlin, 26, who started on a downward spiral of drugs when she was just 11, beginning with cannabis, before moving onto amphetamines and eventually heroin.

A 12-week development course with The Prince’s Trust helped Karen get her life back on track. She has now written a paper on substance misuse for Sunderland City Council and is a Prince’s Trust Young Ambassador, reaching out to other young people. She was presented with the Capgemini Young Achiever Award by Prince Charles and Sir Michael Caine.
