Fish Out of Water

when is this on?

This isn't scheduled anytime soon.
Fish Out of WaterLondon is the most multicultural city in the world with over 300 languages spoken everyday, but how much do we really know about each other? Three comedians set out on a journey of discovery to learn more about the food, music and culture of London’s diverse communities.

This is a light-hearted but thought-provoking film highlighting the gulf of understanding that exists between the different communities that inhabit the capital. Our intrepid comedians sample everything from cow’s foot stew to shish pipes, brown cheese to soca music; and in the process learn about the people and lifestyles that go to make-up London’s diaspora communities.

Fish Out of WaterJoin comedian and radio DJ Wayne Rollins as he’s thrust into the heart of London’s large Norwegian community. Wayne is invited to join the vibrant celebrations of the Norwegian National Day starting with a champagne breakfast and party in Battersea Park. It’s a journey into the complete unknown for our intrepid disc-jockey who confesses, "Norway and Norwegian culture – I know nothing about it, but I’m gonna find out."

Fish Out of WaterFor Iraqi born comedian and actor Adnan Alwan his arrival in a bustling Caribbean market in Dalston, North East London, is something of a culture shock, "Well it seems that we are not in London. It looks like we are in a Caribbean town, but we are in London!" Adnan’s mission is to learn about the capital’s Caribbean community by sampling its food and music and meeting the people.

Discover London’s Arabic community of over 1/2 million through the experiences of Lena Barth Aarstad - a Norwegian born comedian, actress and singer. Lena has lived in London for years however she’s never visited the typically Arabic areas of Edgware Road and West London, or sampled its food and mint teas.

This is a must-see programme for anyone interested in learning about other communities and cultures. Witty and fresh, this film will have you laughing in recognition and disbelief in equal measure! This film was made by Bootstrap Productions.
