Abnormally Funny People

when is this on?

This isn't scheduled anytime soon.

Do you find disabled people funny? Well audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival did. And now Abnormally Funny People has won the award for 'most uplifting film' at the International Disability Festival in Moscow.

The stand up comics in Abnormally Funny People prove they can cut the mustard without a sympathetic laugh in sight.

This hilarious fly-on-the wall documentary follows the trials and tribulations of a group of disabled stand-up comedians rehearsing, producing and performing a groundbreaking comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

With only two months to the beginning of the festival, Simon Minty selects the comedians who will form Abnormally Funny People. One of them will be Minty himself, who has dreamt of performing at Edinburgh for years, and can now finally perform his set that attacks the myths of being a small person.

Also Chosen are: Liz Carr, a sharp-witted stand-up virgin; Steve Day, probably Britain’s only deaf comedian; Chris McCausland, a blind Scouse comic who’s given up his job in telesales to join the show; Tanyalee Davis, a sassy, fast-paced Las Vegas based comic, and finally the token able-bodied guy Steve Best, a veteran stand-up of five Edinburgh Fringe’s and co-producer of the show along with Simon Minty.

After recruiting seasoned comedy director Hugh Thomas to oversee the show they are ready to embark on their quest to conquer Edinburgh.

What they didn't know at the time is that in 2006 they would win awards in San Francisco and Moscow gathering new converts as they went. But the film has already proved that their comedy is good enough to get them recognised on the toughest comedy circuit in the world?
