Ground Force: The Volunteers' Story

when is this on?

This isn't scheduled anytime soon.

Ground Force
The volunteers
This half hour special follows the group of volunteers who joined the BBC’s ground Force team as they transform the British Museum lawn into an African garden, for Africa 05, a nationwide celebration of African culture and heritage.

Volunteers from BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) and the BBC Neighbourhood Gardener scheme worked non-stop over three days through rain and shine to bring a little piece of Africa to the heart of London.

We also follow the volunteers who’ll be maintaining the garden over the next few months. For all the volunteers, assisting in the creation of the garden gives them the chance to gain something, whether it’s gardening expertise or just a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of the rat race for a few hours.
The garden has a variety of exotic plants, from banana trees to proteas, the national flower of South Africa, many of them reminding some of the volunteers of home.

The garden was open to the public and volunteers were recruited to help maintain it.
