Community Channel is launching the next stage of its Activ8 project, a new initiative in partnership with BBC Action Network, that provides an online platform for eight social activists. 

The Channel and Action Network are following eight campaigns on the web and broadband for the rest of 2006, where Activ8 members will document the highs and lows of their campaigns.


Who are the Activ8 members?

Eight campaigns were chosen after applications were sought during Action Week in February 2006.  They represent a variety of causes and geographical regions.

The eight campaigns are:

Lammas Project which aims to build an eco-village in West Wales,
This Is Not My... Campaign which promotes ethical solutions to everyday life.
Ladymoor Wind Farm Action Group which is fighting a proposed wind farm in the West of Scotland.
Evolving Minds who are promoting a holistic and positive approach to mental health issues.
Save Spodden Valley which is trying to regenerate an area damaged by asbestos.
Oli Saves the World which explores personal solutions to environmental issues.
Save Walsall Church which aims to save a derelict church and revive a local community.
