This Is Not My...

This is not my… Campaign sets out to promote ethical and sustainable living.

With the help of a few friends Lara, Susie and Ollie, the This is not my.. creators, will be doing all sorts of things to highlight a bit of ‘better’ living.

Follow our story through our monthly online videoblog.

Our first video looks at the mess we often make of our lives and suggests that our This is not my... guidelines could help.

Our second video provides some simple solutions courtesy of our Therapist.

And read our weblog on BBC Action Network here:

More About This Is Not My...

We also run our campaign website to provide information on how 'better living' can be achieved.

The site contains directories, action points, hints and tips, 'Angel or Devil' challenges, a ‘Therapy’ question and answer section and details of the entertaining things we get up to and come across. Feel free to have a look and get in touch if you want to get involved.

How Did the Campaign Start?

It was the long hot summer of 2005. The furore sparked by the Live 8 machine had been shattered by the horrific events of July 7th. Yet despite the sadness and anxiety there was resolve and resilience in the air.

Though attention had been deflected from the issue of global poverty it was still prominent in the minds of the nation and a new focus had also emerged on the devastating potential of climate change.

Hope, it seemed, might not be lost.  In the midst of this meteoric political and social change we were, naturally, in the pub.

I had just returned from a holiday in Brazil that had opened my eyes to the importance of environmental protection, Ollie a stint in San Francisco where he witnessed the post Iraq rioting and Lara, a trip to Edinburgh to follow events at the G8.

After a couple of pints we were putting the world to rights and agreeing that things should be better. Yet - despite our worries – we were doing precious little else to make it so.

A further two pints and the challenge was on!

Instead of going on about how everyone should be living more ethically and sustainably we would give it a go. See what it required. Then try to get everyone else to do it too.

A couple of weeks and a lot of research later we had found that there were fantastic things out there to buy, easy steps to take and amazing people to talk to.
