Stop Ladymoor Wind Farm

Why have hundreds of people, normally lovers of renewable energy and wind turbines, formed and joined a group of people, the Ladymoor Wind Farm Action Group (LWFAG), who are totally against the building of wind farms?

Simply because the developers have chosen the most inappropriate site, totally contrary to local plans in a Regional Park.  Further at a national level it appears to have the backing of a number of influential elected representatives in both Westminster and Holyrood.

Follow our campaign through our monthly online videoblog.

Our first video introduces the issue facing us and how one woman decided to find out what was at stake when the wind farm was proposed.

Our second video shows how our campaign is gaining momentum and gathering support from the local people, as well as councillors.

In the third video, the extent of the wind farm is revealed - three hundred turbines planned to pepper the national park.

In our fourth video, we travel to Oban to lobby politicians about the windfarm plans.

More About Ladymoor Wind Farm Action Group

Ladymoor reserve
Imagine a wind factory
Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, located in the West of Scotland, is under attack from Wind Factories and needs to be defended most vigorously.   There are 8 projects in the pipeline which could result in hundreds of these massive machines, over 400ft high, all along the hilltops only a few hundred yards apart among the park’s thousands of acres.

It is not a wind farm, it is a wind factory, and there are many legitimate reasons why it should not be built here.

This Regional Park is the great green breathing space for the people and communities of South-West Scotland, it is the ‘Lungs of the City of Glasgow’, and is used by hundreds of thousands of people every year.

There are concerns about water supplies as many homes in the area are serviced by springs. There is the impact on wildlife in this nature reserve and there are concerns about the impact on the hills themselves - their landscape and their profile. What will be the impact on Scotland's valuable tourism industry and many more issues.

LWFAG are fighting so this park and many like it, with no legislation to protect them, are not allowed to be raped in a dash for cash from developers.  Over the next few months LWFAG will explain, along with other issues, how wind turbines are not as green as they first seem and the lack of investment in potentially greener, more efficient, renewable energy supplies.
