Simon Lord – EMpowered people
Simon Lord, the founder of EMpowered people was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1986. He is now recognised for his quest in promoting the benefits of an active lifestyle. With the use of a Pedal Assisted Electric Cycle he has proven that cycling allows him to improve his health, gain freedom and independence and become involved in social and sporting events that able bodied people take for granted.
Nicole Crosby-McKenna – Epilepsy Action
Nicole Crosby-McKenna has worked at Epilepsy Action for over eight years. Her first post was Development Officer for Women, but now she is Senior Policy and Campaigns Officer and acting Campaigns Manager for this national charity. Her areas of specialism are women's health and disability. Nicole has written a number of lay and professional articles regarding epilepsy, and has been published many times. Nicole also edited the Pregnancy Diaries — a patient resource that was highly commended at 2013 BMA awards.
Margaret Bingham – Ciaran Bingham Foundation Trust
Tragically, Margaret's son, Ciaran was involved in a Road Traffic Accident in January 2010 which ended his short life a few days after his 19th birthday. The Ciaran Bingham Foundation Trust (CBFT) was founded by Ciaran's mother, Margaret Bingham and Andrea Edwards and is supported by a committed number of volunteers and sponsors in the local community.
