Noise festival worked with a group of young English Gypsies over two years to create a film portrait of their generation, through visits to the annual Appleby fair. 30,000 Gypsies and Travellers gather each year in a small rural town in Cumbria. Appleby Fair is the UKs oldest and most popular Gypsy festival in Europe. The documentary reveals some very traditional Gypsy values versus modern lifestyle trends.

I as a member of the Romany Gypsy community am at a loss as to Why Violet and her mother appeared on This Morning prog to justify the Irish Traveller ethnic community's cultural traditions? The cultural traditions discussed/argued on the show are totally unrelated to the Romany Gypsy Community. If T.M wanted to discuss Irish Traveller cultural traditions why did they not speak to reps of that community instead of Romany Gypsies? A golden opportunity was missed to present the real issues of discrimination that Romany Gypsies & Irish Trvaellers face on a daily basis in accommodation, health, education, training and employment. if the self appointed reps of my community had thought about the impact that they 'Could' have made on Romany Gypsies and Irish Traveller peoples lives it might have justified their appearance.
