Alfred's Free Press

On the streets of Monrovia, capital of Liberia, everybody knows Alfred J Sirleaf. As the founder and editor of the Daily Talk — a chalkboard ‘newspaper’ on a downtown traffic island — Alfred is a one-man news-agency for the poor. He’s a man on a mission: to keep the people informed about what’s going on, and to help his country recover from the devastation of a brutal civil war. This film follows Alfred’s work and explores the lives of four of his regular readers: an ex-child soldier; a trainee evangelical pastor; a shoe-maker with big-business ambitions; and a single mother who dreams of one day moving out of her mud house.
